VCPIP1 is a member of the OTU subfamily of DUBs. DUBs are categorized into 5 subfamilies: USP, UCH, OTU, MJD, and JAMM. VCPIP1 serves as a cofactor for the p97/p47 complex in regulating Golgi membrane fusion and reassembly at the end of mitosis.
